Immigration opens its doors at Narita
Do not take this piece of news literally. Then again, 159 passengers coming from Taiwan literally did enter Japan without having to go through immigration at Narita Airport indeed. Somehow, the blunder happened because the passengers were taken to a Domestic Arrival gate. While this is being investigating, it is suspected that the flight was mistakenly considered a domestic flight because it had been diverted to Nagoya before reaching its destination. Not that this should excuse such a clumsy mistake. Better now than, say, during the Olympic games. We can assume this administrative faux pas will not occur again.
So yes, Japan is opening to world – and this is one recurrent theme of this blog. But not to this extent!
